Dental Crown
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers a damaged tooth to protect what remains of the tooth structure, providing you with a strong, long-lasting layer of protection between your tooth and your mouth.
To protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay) from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth
To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down
To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left
To hold a dental bridge in place
To cover or treat teeth that have lost a significant part of its structure or severely discolored teeth
To cover a dental implant.
We offer variety of choices ranging from high-grade Porcelain fused crowns to Gold Crowns. The shade of porcelain match with the rest of your surrounding teeth, making the crown appear as natural as your existing teeth.
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown.
On the subsequent visit, (about 2 weeks later), we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.
Crown are a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through accidents, diseases or wear and tear. Major problems can usually be corrected using this treatment.
Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.
